Information about the Society
Genesis of the Society Set up in 1954, the Society, through the dedication and hard work of many of its members, and through difficult times, gradually established itself in its role of serving the Polish Community in Glasgow and Scotland.
General Wladyslaw Sikorski At a meeting of the Society it was felt that it should be named after Poland's great war-time leader - General Wladyslaw Sikorski of whom many felt they owed their lives. In 1960 Madam Helena Sikorska officially opened the House unveiling a memorial to her late husband. Each year he is commemorated by the Society.
